OUR STORY

Don Kosh opened the predecessor to Antioch Fine Wine & Liquors in downtown Antioch in June, 1966 with the help of his brother Herman and long time employee David Bushing.  Current General Manager Larry Ellis joined the store in the mid 1970s, and he helped build the wine selection to its current status as one of the finest in Illinois and the largest in Lake County.  The store moved to its current location on the southwest corner of Route 83 and 173 in October, 1986.  Adam Kosh, Don's son, joined the business in 1997.  The store has been family owned since its inception, and has sought to provide Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, the Chain of Lakes and surrounding areas the finest in Service, Selection and Price.

Stop in and meet our staff:

Donald Kosh:  Owner.  Don has over 50 years experience in the beverage industry.  He can help you find the right wine, spirit or beer for any occasion and would be happy to talk to you about the "old days" and "old products."

Adam Kosh: Owner.  Adam is a lawyer who practiced at the law firm of Winston & Strawn in Chicago before joining his family's business over 15 years ago.  Adam can help you with all of your beverage needs, particularly high end spirits.

Larry Ellis: General Manager.  Larry has been in the beverage industry for over 30 years.  He possesses a wealth of knowledge about the entire store and is adept at making wine approachable to everybody.  Feel free to stop in and ask Larry to pair a wine with whatever you plan on cooking that evening.  Larry is also a world traveler and loves to talk about his traveling adventures.

Steve Hinner: Wine Manager.  Steve has over 20 years experience in the beverage industry.  He is particularly fond of French wines, and has worked at a French restaurant for many years.  Steve is also an accomplished bartender and can help you with any drink you are trying to make, in addition to answering any of your wine questions.

Tony Caldara: Spirit and Inventory Control Manager.  Tony also has 20 years of industry experience, joining us a couple years ago from the DiCarlo store in Mundelein.  Tony is particularly fond of beers, and his knowledge is unparalleled.  Ask him to help you with your spirit or beer selection.

Rick Trampke: Beer Manager.  Rick joined us a couple years ago after working as a bartender.  Ask Rick about the our new beer selections and upcoming beer tastings.  He also knows a lot about craft brews and their availability.  Be his friend, he manages our allocations!!!

Linda Toms: Customer Service Manager.  Linda has over 15 years of industry experience.  She can handle any of your check out questions, and help you find any product in the store.

Sandy Punke: Lead Cashier.  Sandy has been with us for over 11 years, though she has worked in the industry much longer.  Sandy is fond of wines and can also help with any of your customer service questions.

Nina Luckow: Taster Extraordinaire Emeritus.  Unfortunately, Nina passed away on March 7, 2013.  We miss her greatly, but will always remember her.
